The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has announced several important updates to the National Transit Database (NTD) reporting requirements for Report Year 2025. These changes aim to simplify the reporting process, reduce administrative burden, and align with evolving industry standards.
If you missed the announcement, don’t worry—we’ve summarized the key changes below and how they may affect your agency.
Form Consolidation for Simpler Reporting: The A10 and A15 forms will be combined into a single form, streamlining asset reporting and making it easier to report facility conditions and counts in one place.
A20 Form Alignment with TERM: The A20 form, which covers transit way mileage, will be updated to align with the Transit Economic Requirements Model (TERM). This change is expected to be intuitive for agencies already familiar with mileage reporting.
Cybersecurity Event Reporting Requirement: Agencies will now be required to report cybersecurity events to the NTD. If you use TransTrack Manager, this can be easily managed by setting up a new incident type.
Clarification on Disabling Damage: Disabling damage will now be reported as a subset of substantial damage for rail collisions. Additional guidance will be provided in the upcoming annual reporting manual.
Rural Reporting Exemptions: Agencies operating primarily in rural areas may now waive certain reporting requirements, helping to reduce the burden on smaller transit providers.
